Mom's Passing

Yesterday morning my mom went to be with Jesus.  She was 93 years old and passed very peacefully.

We leave tomorrow morning for the funeral which will be on Thursday morning.

  6. My heart goes out to you also. It's never easy to lose a parent, but their memories live on. May you feel God's nearness and comfort.

  7. Someone passed on a great word picture about the death of a parent--they imagined the parent being the big, solid, old tree in the middle of the forest. When it died and went down--there was a definite "hole" left in the landscape but everything around it had been shaped by the influence of that tree. Blessings to you and your family.

  8. Dear Dorcas,

You have the hope and promise of II Cor. 5:8, "absent from the body, present with the Lord" for your mother. May you be comforted with that truth, and may the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified through your mother's death just as He was by the life that she lived by faith in Him. Remember also that Psalm 116:15 encourages us with these words: "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints." As for you, when you have some "alone time", review the passage in I Cor 15:51-57 which declares that "death is swallowed up in victory" through our Lord Jesus Christ. One day your mother will rise again in that victory!

    Prayers for inner peace, Ruby

  15. What a blessing to have had your mother for 93 years. I had mine for 94. There was a real tug on the heartstrings to go home for the funeral, and see Mother missing from her chair, but it was not the same sadness at losing her at say, 55, would have been. I explain it like this. If someone concocts us a marvelous pie and we eat half of it and somehow the dog slips in and gets the rest of it, it borders on calamity. But if we enjoy it to the last crumb, we may be sorry to see it disappear so quickly, but that is eclipsed by our fond memories of that wonderful pie. I am so thankful that I was able to have my mother till the last crumb.

May the Lord bless you and your family in a special way.
