Mice in my Mind

AAAAACCCKKKK! These mice are messing with my mind. Now they’re getting into my sewing room. Today, for the second time this week I set a trap and when I came back to check on it, it was gone. Disappeared.

Me: Where is that thing? I know I set it right here. Really, I did.
Mouse ghost in my head: No, you didn’t. You’re all mixed up. Beginning of Alzheimer’s, you know.
Me: I KNOW GOOD AND WELL I SET THAT TRAP RIGHT HERE. At least…I think…I did.

So with skirt clutched around my knees or down on the floor with a flashlight I went carefully scouting around the room until I found the trap--with a floundering, squeaking mouse still in it--under the ironing board or behind a basket.

AAAAAAHHHHHHH there it is!!! MATT!!! WHERE ARE YOU?????

(Call Paul with shaking hands.) C-c-c-can you p-p-please come home ss-s-oon??

Too much more of this and my family will call for the men in white coats to come get me.

  1. I was at Anita's house today getting tomatoes. As we were standing in her garage, her cat came carrying a big mouse in her mouth. It was to much!!!!!!I feel so sorry for all the mice you have to deal with!!!!! Bonnie

  2. Sounds like the valley is overrun with mice this year, son Scott called the other night to tell us his mouse story. He was in the yard working on some wood, raising the last piece off the ground he found 4 mice hiding there. He called the dog and cats and 2 of the cats came running. Each had a mouse in their mouth. Just Me..

  3. agggghhhhhhhhh I too seem to be over run by mice this year. Makes me want to do all kinds of violent things. I even find myself talking to them telling what I am going to do to their hides. How can such a little creature mess with our minds?

  5. Thanks, all, for your sympathy. And Sharon, I keep telling myself, "At least it's not a snake, at least it's not a snake, at least..."
